The popular educational and infotainment web portal for children, parents and teachers, www.kidsworldfun.com, is organizing an international short story writing contest, for school children aged 7 to 16, in three categories: sub junior (7-9 years), junior (10-12 years), and senior (13-16 years). Entry to this contest is FREE. The contest will now be held bi-annually. This is a call for entries to the next contest. Winners will receive attractive prize money, certificates and publication opportunities. There will be three winners in each category, and the prize money is US$75, US$50 and US$25 for the first, second and third prize winners respectively. Prizes include certificates and publication opportunities on the website. All other outstanding entries also will be published on the website. A noteworthy feature of this competition is that all participants will be given feedback and suggestions on how to improve their writing. The story has to be written in English, and only one story per person is accepted. The expected world length is 300-500 words, 500-700 words, and 700-1000 words for the sub-junior, junior and senior categories respectively. A proof of age should be submitted along with the story. The proof of age could be a scan or a photo of any document that shows the age of the participant. The story and the proof of age should be sent as email attachments to shortstorycontest@kidsworldfun.com. Participants are required to include the title of their story, word count, name and contact information [parent’s or teacher’s email address, residential address, and phone number (optional)] in the email. Participants can choose to write on any theme they like. The story should be typed using Microsoft Word (Windows) or Pages (Mac) in 12 point regular font. Graphics should not be included in the story. Stories will be judged on the basis of merit in content, language and style of writing. The judge’s decision will be final. Any queries about the contest should be sent to enquiry@kidsworldfun.com.
